MORGAN MOTOR CAR CLUB

TEXMOG 2009
Stroll and Search

The Walking Tour. What about it? Interestingly, the British Clubs have a heavy percentage of their events as "walking tours". Maybe the weather or the terrain. I don't know.

The MMCC event, organized by Dick Hawkins, brought us down to Industrial Blvd., renamed last week to "Riverfront" Blvd. The participants were to review three "antique" shops and answer questions from their wares. The facilities selected represented quite a diversity of selections.

The first shop was a true antique shop, mostly with fine artifacts. The individual kiosks were manned by the contributors, not the location owner. Then it was on to a more relaxed venue, but still with an interesting presentation.

Finally, the group went to what may be described as a junk store . . . and great it was. Besides being presented cookies and drinks by the owner, it was just a great destination for the pack rat inclined. A lot of curio items of interest, rather than items of exceptional value.

In each of these emporiums, you were to scour the merchandise to find answers to a list of questions presented to you at the start. Some answers were subjective and some were objective, and almost all escaped the notice of you editor, this correspondent.

Upon conclusion, everyone drove over to Cafe Brazil in Oak Cliff's Bishop Arts District for a late lunch and to reach a consensus on the answers. As usual, it was another great event with perfect weather for a stroll.
