An April Outing

Saturday, April 10, a day of everlasting beauty. Nineteen club members as well as 8 Morgans met for an early morning departure to Sunshine Farms, just north of Gladewater in East Texas. Everyone showed up on time so we only left 30 minutes late (but that had been factored in). The two hour tour wended its way along country roads, amongst the flowering dogwood trees and blooming wild flowers. The sun was out in all its majesty and the temperature hovered in the low 70s. And, as has come to be expected, there were no auto breakdowns or troubles along the way.

And, everything remained perfect upon the troupe's arrival at the Sunshine Angus Farms of Ali and Deborah Sheikh. The Morgans were placed upon display, much to the curiosity of a herd of Angus heifers, who had to come over and examine these new inhabitants of their pasture.

Then everyone meandered up to the main house, where a big Bar-B-Que spread was enjoyed by the Morganeers as well as by many Sheikh family members, acquaintances and neighbors. There was still enough for seconds or more. To work off the meal, many took a walk through the brush over to the original ranch house, which has been refurbished and restored.

At about the time many were returning from the ranch house, a reporter from the Gladewater News arrived to take pictures of the Morgans and speak with the various owners. As the interviews were ending it was suggested that the group go over and see the herd of sheep and goats guarded by 3 Great Pyrenees sheep dogs.

By mid-afternoon, it was time to reluctantly head the Morgans back to the Metroplex. A great day, a great adventure, great hospitality, and great memories.
