LAKE TOUR / AUTO SHOW
COOL CARS, HOT ROADS, SCRUMPTIOUS LUNCH!!!!!!!!!!

Highway
Well we did it again! After Art's meticulously planned tubing trip got cancelled due to dry river beds from the drought conditions, the Club regrouped. Art found a place in Princeton, Texas with a 50's and 60's muscle car clientele, who were having a car show the following weekend. He turned the idea over to the Prez, who inspected the site and planned a scenic tour to the destination. MMCC never drives to an event - they tour to the event. So the word was dispersed by Email. Saturday morning, Judi had prepared route instructions, both up and back, maps, and a sample menu to a local restaurant - Catfish Heaven II. Even with the forecast of over 100 degree weather, five cars with 10 members appeared at the start, including the Morgans of the Fleners and Chuck Harris/Barbara Simmons. Hardy, if maybe not wise, souls. The group toured away from the city to downtown Farmersville. There they met up with Art and Patsy in Art's new Soltice. About 30 minutes were spent exploring downtown Farmersville's single street, former home of hero Audy Murphy. Purchases were made by Jeff and Yvonne Smith as well as Traci and Roy Murphy (no relation to Audy). Then the procession was off to Princeton. Well, not exactly. Judi's route wound through various winding and hilly backroads of the horse country area. It took about an hour of scenic driving even with the aborted last leg as Judi and Bill got lost on their own tour. But all arrived together in Princeton. (Hey, we said it was a Lost Highway.) The event was well attended, from split windowed Corvettes to Challengers, Cudas and Shelbys, as well as 46 Ford autos and Chevy trucks. However, the irony was when a local limousine company owner, whose limousine was there, happened across the Morgans, which were parked out of sight in a adjacent lot. He insisted that all his employees and youngsters come over so that he could show them a car that they had never seen. And he did and they were enthralled. A fitting end. About 3:00 PM it was starting to sizzle, so the Club group broke up and headed back to their specific abodes. Still, an outstanding outing - as always. If you missed it, it is hoped your Saturday was as rewarding.
