Dallas to Watkins Glen

Five Morgans in Search of Fun and Adventure

Day Seven- At The Glen

September 13th 2009

Watkins Glen Three (Day 7)

This is penned in the early evening, while sitting on the B&B outdoor patio overlooking Lake Seneca. The sun soon will be setting on what has been a very enjoyable day.

The day broke bright and sunny. Perfect for racing. Again we raced through breakfast to get to the track, as the pre-war class was to race at 9:30 AM. We knew it would be largely populated by Morgans - and so it was. We all kinda followed our own agendas. Checking out the various races, and admiring the many unique automobiles parked here and there around the premises.

At 2:30 PM was the exclusive Peter Morgan Memorial Challenge race. What a disappointment. It was staged as a handicap race, where the racers were started at various intervals in an effort that they all would finish close together. In theory, it worked, but that meant until the final laps, the Morgans were just tooling around solo with no recognizable nearby competition. After that, we all withdrew to our home base to begin packing for tomorrow's departure.

Seems to be a lot more Datsun 1600 & 2000's on the east coast

It seems that the only view of the track always required looking through a fence.
