Watkins Glen to Auburn

Five Morgans in Search of Fun and Adventure

Day Nine Cleveland to Auburn

September 24th 2009

Auburn Day One

Time to recommence the TexMog Centenary trek. Thursday morning, October 24th Nogueira, the Boyles and the Murphys join up with Gary and Sally Kneisley in Grafton Ohio to recover the Morgan’s. Joining them on this leg from Grafton to Auburn will be John and Gladys Mc Naughton of California and Chris Geisel of Ohio who rode with Bob to Auburn.

But first we pick up the Morgans out of storage, repack them and head for Auburn by 9:45 AM. This was to be a non interstate highway trip through the soybean and corn fields of northern Ohio, punctuated by many scenic red barns along the way. Lunch was taken in Napoleon at the Spengler bar and café, mostly bar, with the restrooms down wooden stairs in the basement, certainly in conformity with Texmog tour standards..

The five car group arrive at the Auburn Inn about 3:30 with all cars performing admirably. Soon fellow Texans, Art and Patsy, reappear from their sojourn to Niagara Falls after Watkins Glen. The group was complete when Darrel VanDyke made his appearance. Again no rain was encountered by the group, which can’t be said for those who approached Auburn from the south. They appeared drenched.

Then it was time for reacquainting yourself with old friends, making new friends and enjoying the hospitality of OHMOG. The formal event starts tomorrow.
