Watkins Glen to Auburn

Five Morgans in Search of Fun and Adventure

Day Ten Auburn

Auburn Day 2

This morning about all of the participants for MOG Midwest II had made their arrival. This gives everyone a chance to look over some Morgans, including those from TEXMOG, which they had not seen in their local British Car Days.

The first planned event was a rally/tour through the scenic nearby countryside. There was a big turnout for the event. A light sprinkle showed up in the a.m., but it was gone by the time of the noon break at the Railroad Inn in Garrett, IN, an old railroad town. The Morganeers packed the place, but both the service and the food were good.

Then it was back on the road for the afternoon portion of the rally. This involved a visit to the Mid-America Windmill Museum before ending at a restored 1930’s Sinclair Service Station and automobile memorabilia showroom.

Back to the headquarters, the Auburn Inn, it was hospitality and look at the cars and their “improvements.” Many folks took this opportunity to wash and polish their cars in preparation for the Saturday Concourse. Then the Texas group split up for dinner Boyles and Nogueira joining some from Minnesota, Mississippi, Ohio, Pennsylvania (the honorable Penny Bates) and West Virginia. That’s what is so good about these outings: the chance to intermingle with Morgan owners with different experience.

When we returned to the Inn, we were met with the police! They said 3 Morgans were blasting through town at 90 mph (it was really only two). The Police could not identify the “evening racers,” so no arrests were made. Then it was back to the Hospitality Room, pick up your 2 free posters, and let the day wind down.
